Snakes!
Okay, this isn’t art related at all but I want to share with everyone a traumatizing event that happened to me this last weekend.
I was in the studios Saturday afternoon helping Cory with a few last minute errands for his wedding later that day. (A big congrats to Cory and his new wife Jasmine!!).
I had to pick a few things up from the tea house, which is located behind our main studio and is notorious for creepy crawlies coming down from the mountain.
Although I had heard stories about the infamous “tea house” and its critters I had never actually been introduced to any and so didn’t think much about it as I confidently strode up the stairs to the kitchen door. Sure enough as I was about to round the stair well to the second floor there it was….the green and brown tale of a snake! (I can’t even begin to describe how much I hate snakes) I immediately let out what I am sure was a very manly scream and jumped higher than a gold medalist pole-vaulter on steroids. After several outbursts of profanities that I am sure would make my mother proud the crew finally arrived. Cory, his father Frank and James all came down from the office to see what had happened. After telling of my daring escape from the stairwell James, the brave guy that he is, decided to flush him out. Armed only with his pride and a square head shovel he went in! As James went up the snake came down, and were talking fast! James jumped (not near as high as me though) and the rest of us ran for our lives as it darted down the stairwell. It must have been 10 meters long…..or maybe it was only 2!ha nobody knows for sure as it made it from the stairwell across the court yard and back in to the wilderness from where it belonged all in about 1 sec flat.
It is all over now and the therapy is going well but needless to say I now walk around the studios with thick leather boots and a 10 foot piece of bamboo!! Sure some may laugh but they will be the sorry ones when it comes back for revenge for waking it that warm Saturday afternoon.
Yeah OK a little bit exaggerated…but there really was a snake!
