Lemieux and the people
Lemieux’s paintings are like a refreshing drink after a ride under the heat of the summer sun. Its simplicity of shapes, lines and colors are easy to get in touch with.
Landscapes are almost empty, like the wide open area of Canada, the no man’s lands. And when there is an individual on the canvas, it is no the main focus. Characters in Lemieux’s characters are most of the time facing the observer, rarely a profile is shown.
It feels like a holiday photo, a slice of a common life.
The overall impression of Lemieux’s work is the integration of the simplicity of humanity within a naked landscape in the background. No fuss, no race for geometry, just shapes and colors thrown in a breeze over the canvas.
